How Much Are Silver Dollars Worth

The 1957 Silver Certificate is a type of paper currency that was once minted in the United States, equal and redeemable for an equal amount of silver bullion. This certificate was part of what was known as the small-note series. Beginning with the 1928 series, all United States paper currency was reduced in size to cut costs and to speed up the pace of transactions.
Before 1934, silver certificates were redeemable for actual silver dollars. However, Congress passed legislation in 1934 that allowed the government to exchange a certificate for silver bullion and not specifically silver dollars.
In the 1940's and 1950's, silver certificates began to disappear from circulation. The number of notes in circulation depended upon the amount of silver bullion that was contained in the vaults of the U.S. Treasury. Less silver was being produced. So, when a note was redeemed for silver bullion or dollars, it was shredded. It could not be put back into circulation unless the amount of silver being produced was increased.
The 1957 Silver Certificate is one of the most common certificate dates. There are many rare silver certificates that are valued at more than 0. This is not the case with the 1957 version. According to the most recent Black Book figures, the retail value for this particular date is perhaps .00 or .00 in crisp, uncirculated condition. In circulated condition, it is worth just a little over face value.
Always keep in mind that the figures quoted in various coin books are for retail value. A dealer would tend to offer less, anywhere from twenty to forty percent lower than the retail price.

How much are these silver dollars worth?
I have 6 silver dollars in gently used condition... all of them are shiney and you can read all of the letters on them.. Please tell me what they're worth!
-Three 1921 silver dollars with no letters
-One 1925 with a S on it
-One 1922 with a D on it
-One 1898 with no letter
I kinda did polish them but does that really destroy the value???????-
ANSWER:
They are worth .80 apiece for their silver value alone. There is a premium paid by coin dealers on your silver dollars of apx. . So a local dealer would pay you .80 for each coin. Since they are buying the coins for their silver value, it doesn't matter that you cleaned them.To watch the values change daily go to coingallery.com and click on Buy/Sell Prices. ( i don't work for them and it is free). Also silverrecyclers.com which lets you click on the type of coin you own and gives you an explanation. Their price is the price after the silver is melted which is more than you would get paid.

QUESTION:
How much is old silver dollars worth?
My husband bought 7 silver dollars dateing 1848,1921, 1906, 1895, one does not have a date on front but, on back has the number 999, the last one number is worn but looks like 1901. he paid .00 for the coins. does any one know what they are worth or how to go about finding out? without someone trying to rip us off. my husband loves to buy old thing without knowing anything about it. (i guess thats why he has me..ha ha)-
ANSWER:
There's a problem here. The US did not make silver dollars in the years 1905 -1920, so that leaves the 1906 out. The 1848 is very rare, only 15,000 were minted. 1895 are very scarce in all varieties, and .00 for all is too good to be true. A single silver dollar, even a worn one, is worth about just for its silver content. Something sounds very fishy here. The .999 on the back of the one makes me very suspicious that what he bought was a bunch of replica silver dollars. By law, they are supposed to carry the word 'copy' somewhere on the coin. They are sometimes plated with .999 silver. The total silver value in all 7 would be worth a couple bucks at the most.

QUESTION:
How much are American Silver Dollars worth??
How much are american silver dollars worth dated1978
1776.1976?
1971
1974-
ANSWER:
Unless the coins you listed have an "S" mint mark they are composed of copper-nickel. There is no silver in them. If these were samples pulled out of circulation then they are not worth much more than face value. You might get .00 retail and a dealer would probably only give you face value. But because of their size they make great conversation starters.Good luck.

QUESTION:
How much is my 2001 morgan mint silver eagle dollar worth?
It is a we the people coin with certificate of authenticity .999 pure silver and has been thru A colorization process-
ANSWER:
It is not a coin but what is called a silver round, it is in the medal family. Only the government can mint coins. You have a private mint item. It is one ounce of .999 silver and the value depends on what silver is at the time you sell it. Values change daily. At the close of the market today silver was .02 a troy ounce. That being the case a dealer would give you - for it. Silver rounds sell for a percentage higher than spot and dealers pay a percent less when they buy. Being colored does not add value. Also it should not be called a silver eagle unless it is a US Mint item, in that case the coloring will make it loose its collector value and it is worth only the silver.
